Hey, it’s me!
Whew, so glad you made it. I hope you’ve enjoyed perusing the images here. My name is Jarred Elrod. I’m a graphic designer, photographer & design educator currently residing near Aviano, Italy. I specialize in photographing people doing what they love, with the people they love in outdoor settings. I’m at my best capturing candid moments as they unfold in context, but I’m also trained to photograph in indoor / studio settings where flash is required. I’m an avid mountain biker and have a passion for motocross and enduro racing. When I’m not working or on two wheels, my spouse Amanda and I can most likely be found traveling in our Fiat camper van with our Corgi-Terrier mix, Pinotto. You can see photos from a selection of those excursions + process work from recent art/design exhibitions in my online journal. Amanda and I are always open to tackling a new via ferrata or hitting the nearest lake or sea with our paddle boards. If you’re in the Aviano area and also enjoy these things send us a note!
I fell in love with photography during my first job as a graphic designer in 2006. Our agency worked with an amazing Texas-based photographer named Shannon Richardson. Shannon often brought his Hasselblad 500C to our photoshoots and experimented with film after capturing what he needed digitally for our projects. That inspired me to get my first 35MM film camera—I followed that up with my first professional-grade DSLR and I was off to the races. Over the past decade+ photography has become a passion of mine and a big part of what I do as a graphic designer. I even have an instagram account dedicated to photographing typography with my phone. I know—what a nerd!
For portrait or event sessions I generally shoot digital, but if you’re interested in mixing in film I have medium format toy cameras + twin lens reflex, fuji instant and of course, 35mm options to choose from.
